Friday night, February 22nd, at 17 Frost Gallery was the book launch for Yoav Litvin’s, sure to be a classic, Outdoor Gallery – New York City. It was a packed evening with the artists and their works, a video tribute by SinXero and Dega Films to honor the memory of our friend, Jef Campion and Royce Bannon keeping the good energy grooves moving with the night. This is not your ordinary street art book. Yoav Litvin, who really has a love and passion for what New York City ha

In Memory of Army of One
This morning I woke up to very sad news, a New York street artist who I had the pleasure to work with and call my friend passed away. His name was Jef Campion, better known to the world as, Army of One. I first met Army of One at the July, 2010 event at Electric Windows in upstate New York but I knew him already by his iconic images of Diane Arbus‘ “Grenade Boy” and “The Bride of War”. Soon after he and I met up at the Bowery building to put in some work and from that nigh

Art Basel Miami Beach 2013 | Everything BIG
This marks the 4th year in a row I have participated in Art Basel Miami Beach. I went back to the NW 22nd Street and NW 2nd Avenue wall in Wynwood with AOM, Rob Fogle, Leaf and my friend from Limeira, Brazil, Danilo Zeh Palito. AOM and I arrived one night before Whisbe and Palito and set up our ‘command center’ in a spacious and dope apartment in South Beach. I saw day turn into night on the balcony a few times and watched as Miami’s downtown skyscrapers became lit like a

Fine Art on Walls
After the twin roll gates mural on Borinquen Place(Grand St.) in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, was completed, I was offered to paint the span of the Hooper Street side on the same building. The wall space presented itself with some obstacles. The first was how I could reach that far up on the wall using spray paint without the proper ladder. The second was the actual surface of the wall. The building has been around a while and the wall was originally an interior space with wid

Farewell to 5 Pointz Queens
For over a decade, artists from around the world made a pilgrimage to the mecca of urban art called 5 Pointz in Long Island City, Queens, NY. This was the Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory of fine graffiti and street art, a warehouse of pure imagination where so many artists have contributed their creativity for over a decade. There was no place like it..a one of a kind outdoor museum that tourists from all corners of the globe came to see. “5 Pointz Aerosol Art Center, Inc.

NY St. Gallery Gate
It has been a busy year and the weather hasn’t slowed me down much. Over the weekend I was in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, working on two gates for NY St. Gallery. The portrait on the right is of the founder, Dariel Mtz and on the left is one of the Table Series people making the magic happen. This Friday, November 15, NYst Gallery will have a group exhibition with over 15 artists and live painting at ‘The Well’, 272 Meserole Street, Brooklyn. Opens at 6 pm…see you there.

Bushwick: The Icy and Sot Spot
On the first day of fall, I met with Icy and Sot (link) at a rooftop on Maujer Street off of Morgan Avenue that they curate in Bushwick, Brooklyn. Icy and Sot are dissidents who fled from Iran where artists do not have the freedom of expression. They are brothers and masters of stencil art, accomplished gallery artists and their murals can be seen all over NYC and beyond the Big Apple. ICY (born 1985) and SOT (born 1991) are stencil artists from Tabriz Iran, they continue o

Back at 5 Pointz in Queens
Going back to 5 Pointz to paint the courtyard again was a great way to end my 2013 Summer Fun Collection. This time, instead of painting a portrait as I did last year, I chose to paint a traditional, reclining anatomical figure. My thoughts were to bring a classical pose from the past as seen painted by the masters throughout art history to my repertoire of subject matter. The horizontal plane the figure rests on was intended to utilize the space more efficiently since the

Fumeroism in Itri, Italy
I arrived in Itri, Italy on a typically hot and bright, sunny day on an invitation from the city to paint a public mural. My connection in Itri, Veronica, brought me to the local paint store where I purchased the primer for the 6.5′ high by 131′ long wall (44 yards). With the help of friends, we cleaned the debris from the wall and began buffing it. My days consisted of waking up, having a quick shot of cafe (espresso) and walking through the narrow passage ways of this anc

Tuthilltown Spirits – Silo Art Project
Joe Meloy and I headed to upstate New York on July 8th and met with Ryan Cronin for a special silo art project at Tuthilltown Spirits. Each of us had a silo to create on. Hudson Whiskey | Tuthilltown Spirits is a family run farm distillery using rye, corn and apples from local farmers to produce their whiskey, gin and apple vodka. “From grain to glass, we take great care and pride in all of our spirits. We’ve captured local flavor and ambiance using the agricultural resour
